Hi, My name is Cody. That is short for Fire Code Inspector. I am the Founder of Cody’s Friends for Fire Safety and a retired Eugene Springfield Fire Official Fire Safety Dalmatian. It was the greatest job in the world! I taught young children the 5 basic messages of fire safety: Smoke Detectors Save Lives, Crawl Low Under Smoke, Have an Escape Plan and Meeting Place, Dial 9-1-1 in case of Emergency and Stop, Drop, and Roll if your Clothes Catch Fire. I was destined to be a Fire Dog. My human mom, grandpa and great grandpa are all part of the fire service. The fact that I am white with black spots might have helped too.
Now that I am retired, I have turned the teaching reigns over to my lil brother Casey (short for Arson Case Investigator). He is continuing in my pawprints to teach kids of all ages what todo in the event of an emergency!
The mission of Cody’s Friends for Fire Safety is to educate and empower people to make their safety a priority. We help provide the tools and materials to teach fire and life safety to anyone who will listen.
The success of my work depends on help from my Friends for Fire Safety. Through our joint effort we can provide fire safety materials for children to take home and share with their family, increase the number of presentations given to demonstrate these potentially life saving messages, and increase the fire and life safety awareness in our community.
Won’t YOU join me in assuring our community knows what to do if they are faced with an emergency? Quick thinking and appropriate action can make all the difference in the world when seconds count! Who knows, the life saved may be yours.
